The Hotel Marshal Garden is in the Romanian capital of Bucharest and is set just back from the largely residential and leafy street of Dorobantilor Boulevard in the city centre. The hotel occupies a modern six-storey building with contemporary interiors that feature strong, bright colours. Bucharest, for many years under the thumb of the infamous communist dictator Ceausescu, has emerged from that era to become an energetic city that stylishly combines the old and the new. The Marshal Garden's central location means that you can walk to many of Bucharest's main attractions and nearby Pia?a Roman? underground station offers ready access to all parts of the city.
Parts of Bucharest may be somewhat dilapidated, but the city boasts a fine collection of museums, lots of lively cafes and bars, and some beautiful old churches, a combination that makes it a highly romantic destination. You can get married at the hotel with two reception spaces available, the restaurant and the Panoramic Hall, which can hold up to 300 guests. There's also a Romance Package available which includes one or two nights in a Superior Room, a welcoming bottle of champagne, your room decorated with rose petals and breakfast.
The hotel's 63 guestrooms have chic contemporary decor and furnishings and brightly coloured fabrics and come with private balconies. All are equipped with air conditioning, flatscreen TVs and free wifi. Other amenities include minibars, complimentary toiletries and bathrobes and slippers.
Set in the splendid former 19th-century Royal Palace, the National Museum of Art includes works by the likes of Tintoretto, Monet and El Greco and is a 20-minute walk from the hotel. A short bus or taxi ride from the hotel, Centru Vechi, the Old Town, is where you'll find charming old buildings, art galleries and a good selection of bars and cafes. Not far from the Old Town, the Cismigiu Gardens is central Bucharest's largest green space and includes rolling lawns, mature trees and a lake as well as a formal Roman garden.
The hotel's restaurant is located on the top floor of the building and includes a rooftop terrace with views across Bucharest's rooftops. The menu features modern European and Mediterranean dishes such as smoked salmon, avocado and quail egg salad with red caviar, tagliatelle with butter, sage and black truffle, and lamb cutlet in a herb crust.
