Galaxa Mansion is a historical building, built in the early 18th century. Originally owned by a shipowner, it is one of the city’s very first mansions, and it is officially described as “traditional and preservable building” by the Greek State.
It was owned by the Visviki family, one of the most privileged families of the island at those times. According to the legend, which lives on today, the hostess of the home was a water nymph, which a young man discovered by the seaside one night. He was fascinated by her beauty, and so they fell in love and got married. The mansion became their love nest, and they lived there until old age took them from this earth. They were always happy and envied by all the Galaxidi residents. They raised two doughters in the mansion, who were called “fairy-touched”, and the myth lives on…
During the difficult years of the city of Galaxidi’s economic decline, the mansion was abandoned, standing empty - but proud and imperious. Until our days, many were its owners and for the last 25 years consists one of the very first mansions of Galaxidi, by the name “Galaxa”.
... & Now
In November 2013, the old mansion and shipowner residence passed into the hands of the family of Basilika and Avgoustinos Lavdas, who have been tourism professionals for nearly three decades. Armed with a wealth of experience, positivity and good taste, they have revived the shipowner residence and its myth, always mindful of the comfort that modern, high quality hospitality demands.

No matter which season you visit Galaxidi, romance is on the cards; the beautiful imagery of the city and the happy moments in the small taverns, coffee shops etc. will warm your hearts and create a shared history to remember together always. The colours, the light, the sea, the smells, all these contribute for a magical, almost erotic atmosphere to absorb. What to Do
The port of All Saints:
Following the path that connects Galaxidi with Nafpaktos and approximately at the 12 km we will see, inevitably, the tiny harbour of All Saints. The settlement with the tiny beach and the very few shops along is an ideal spot to eat and swim if you continue your trip to Nafpaktos.
In the neighbourhoods of Amfissa:
Worth to go up to Amphissa, the capital of the prefecture of Phocis, where the famous castle of Salona is, built by Franks and Catalan knights. From here the view of the city and the grove is unlimited. Equally interesting is the old district of Charmaina with the traditional houses and the very old traditional tanneries. If you have some spare time, spend it in the Archaeological Museum and the Municipal Art Gallery, where works by the painter Spyros Papaloukas are being exhibited.
Mining park:
Using the highway Amfissas – Gravias, you will have the unique experience of a sightseeing tour- with appointment-at Vagoneto, the Phocis Mining Theme Park, unique in the Greek area. At a depth of 500 meters in the renovated stoa "850" the scene of bauxite mining has been realistically presented.
Beaches
The beaches of the Gulf of Corinth are small in length, usually littered with pebbles or stone, while the main feature is their deep, cool waters. Beside the port there is the small beach of the Nautical Club, ideal for those who are getting bored traveling. The road which starts from the southern end of the waterfront will bring you to the small and crowded during summer time beach of the ting, which is paved with pebbles.
The leeward bays in Anemokambi:
A little farther to the southwest, hidden in a bosom deep sheltered bay, you will find the beach Anemokambi which is paved with pebbles and sand. It is 3.5 km from Galaxidi. The road in the last 1,500 meters while still tarmac is quite narrow and during the summer time needs coution due to traffic. In Voidakas several beautiful pebbled paved beaches are being revealed, easily accessed with a little walking.
On the way to Erateini just before the settlement of All Saints and by doing a short 1.5 Km detour, you can reach the secluded beach of Agios Vassilios, paved with small pebbles and deep blue waters reminiscent of the Aegean. For more privacy you may get to the nearby tiny beach called “Nigger” (it is better to walk). Further to the west, the coastline is rocky with steep deep waters, the perfect place for experienced divers. The best beach of the area is Agios Vasilios.
