Love at First Sight
We offer nine detached en-suite African roundhouses and our luxury self catered option, SunBird House all of which have 240v power supplied by our solar array and hot water supplied from solar water heaters. We are completely off-grid and are dedicated to being plastic-free. Our centrepiece eco-pool is a favourite not only with our guests but also the birdlife too!
Romance
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with freshly squeezed juice from one of our fruit trees and shown to your accommodation. Fall asleep to the sounds of Gambia's nature and wake refreshed and ready for an a la carte breakfast in your room or in our treetop hide. For your first day, why not have a picnic on the beach or just relax on your sundeck, there is always plenty to do another day! Indulge yourselves and talk with Yahya our head chef. He will be very happy if you have something special you will like him to create just for you!
Your Stay
We have nine detached African roundhouses and our luxury self catered option SunBird House. All are cool by intelligent design and offer en-suite, 240v electricity and hot water.
Whatever you may need, Dodou the lodge General Manager is on hand to help with anything from picnic requests to sightseeing and local knowledge.
We have regular BBQ evenings where we roast cashew fresh from our trees and sample some local palm wine plus some local drumming and dancing ( which I promise you will be expected to join in on )
What to Do
It's your time so spend it as you want to. We have plenty to see and do ranging from leisurely walks in the protected forest on our doorstep to birdwatching, yoga and fishing from our local beach. Which is usually deserted btw. Join some workshops for tie n dye, painting or cotton-weaving all taught under the expert tutelage of local craftspeople. Or if you prefer day excursions, we offer guided and unguided trips to the nation's capital, Banjul. Visit a local turtle sanctuary and even spend a half-day with Red Colobus Monkeys, now endangered across the world. If all this sounds too busy, relax, have a couples massage or unwind in a hammock.
The Food of Love
Our restaurant has two talented, innovative chefs. Our head chef, Yahya has been working with us for 6 years and his assistant chef Famara for 5 years. They love food and it really shows. All food groups are catered for including vegan. Being next to the sea of course Tiger Prawn, Lobster and Fish are a feature of our nightly menu's.
